“Bethel”
is a Hebrew word meaning “The House of God and The Gate of
Heaven” (Genesis 28:17-19)
The
first building on the site was a prefabricated structure of wood
and corrugated iron which was opened on 26th November 1893. It
is not known when the name Bethel was given to the building, it
appears first in July 1895 on the Certificate of Registration
as a Place of Worship.
We
are Baptists and carry out Believer’s Baptism and we are also
Evangelical.
We
believe the Bible to be the perfect and sufficient Word of God
for all time and all people.

We are a church made up of many people united in our evangelical
convictions and priorities.
